Mahana Pinot Noir 2013
The Mahana Pinot Noir 2013 is sleek and supple – taking its direction from clay bound gravels. Fermented with significant whole clusters, this offers delicate perfume, spice and finely detailed tannins. Drink now thru 2025.
Hand harvested clusters from superior parcels of the Mahana vineyard. Ambient maceration (5 days) until natural fermentation commenced. 22% Whole Clusters are included. After 28 days maceration pressed immediately to very tight grained french oak barrels, 22% of which are new. Prolonged malolactic fermentation in early summer. 18 months total elevage. Bottled by gravity. Unfined and unfiltered.
Perfect gastronomic marriages include duck confit, washed rind cheese, mild game, Chinese barbeque, or roast lamb.
Exceptional: round, rich, and spicy and fruity in character (black pepper, plum, cherry, rosehips, toast), it is balanced and very long on the palate, with a lightly tannic finish. Can be aged a bit. – Ronn Wiegand MW (USA)*
