Joining us in February 2015, Michael Glover’s passion for wine began with the planting of his family’s vineyard in the Moutere Hills of Nelson in New Zealand. Throughout his winemaking career, Michael has constantly sought to expand his knowledge and understanding of wine, undertaking vintages across Tuscany, Puglia, Campania, Sardinia, Mosel, Cote Ventoux, and Burgundy. He has judged at a range of wine shows across Australia and is a past Len Evans Tutorial scholar.
Michael is passionate about the concept of creativity in winemaking, endeavouring to capture a true reflection of the site in wine each year. He has returned to the Moutere Hills and Mahana Estates from Australia where he crafted the iconic wines of Bannockburn Vineyards.
“He is a one-off. A free spirit, a man who goes his own way. An eccentric perhaps, in a world of white-coated technocrats. Such people are quite rare, and are to be valued.” ~ Huon Hooke
This said about a man, who also once trained alongside the famed Greg LeMond at Mt. Rose outside of Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Too true, we say,
too true.
